Tour Plan

Day One to Three - Game Haven Private Reserve

On arrival at Chileka International Airport, your driver will meet your group and transfer you in a private minibus to Chimwenya Game Reserve - roughly an hour away from the airport.

Accommodation will be at Game Haven Lodge in Nyala with double rooms on a full board basis for two nights.

Game Haven lodge is in a private game reserve where your biggest worry is having zebras on the golf course blocking your shot off as they casually graze on the fairway. Beautiful spacious rooms, great food, numerous activities and a swimming pool are all included which make this a very popular destination.

Day Three to Four - Zomba

After breakfast your group will depart Game Haven for Zomba city - approx 2 hours drive away - where you’ll stay for one night.

Your accommodation will be at Ku Chawe Inn, a property at the top of Zomba plateau with breathtaking views. All rooms are ensuite with air-conditioning and you’ll be on a bed and breakfast rate.

Ku Chawe Inn is at the top of the plateau for those wishing to take one of the many hiking trails for the afternoon (guides can be arranged). They also have a lovely swimming pool for those who prefer to relax and enjoy the view. Zomba city has beautiful colonial architecture and a good selection of cafes and restaurants if you wish to try something outside of the hotel. The new Kefi Hotel Cafe is a favourite with local residents for lunch on the terrace and we’d also highly recommend a trip to the delicious Italian restaurant Casa Rossa.

Day Four to Seven - Liwonde National Park

After breakfast you’ll depart at 9.30am for your 2 hour drive to reach the Mvuu boat pick-up point. It’s just a 5 minute boat ride across the Shire river to reach your safari lodge and you’ll arrive in time for lunch and your first afternoon game activity in Liwonde National Park.

Your accommodation for the next three nights will be in a private ensuite chalet at Mvuu Wilderness Lodge on a full board basis with a total of six game activities available during your stay. This beautiful safari getaway based right on the shores of the Shire river combines the rugged African bush with luxurious comfort and unforgettable game activities. With beautifully designed chalets and a cooling swimming pool, your time in between game activities will be almost as memorable.

Arguably the best national park in Malawi, Liwonde has a high concentration of elephants, hippos, crocodiles, antelope plus a rapidly growing population of cheetah, lion & other mammals. The most recently introduced black rhino and wild dogs make this park Malawi’s star attraction with its ‘Big 5’ status

Day Seven to Nine - Mumbo Island

After your last game activity and breakfast, your group will depart at 10am to cross the river and embark on the 3 hour minibus drive to Cape Maclear. You’ll arrive in time for a late lunch before taking the 3pm boat to Mumbo island.

The boat ride through the beautiful Lake Malawi National Park takes approx 1 hour.

Accommodation for the next two nights will be on Mumbo island in ensuite safari tents on a full board basis. Activities such as hiking, snorkelling and kayaking are included. Additional options of scuba diving, massages and sunset boat trips are also available.

This exclusive getaway from the hustle and bustle offers the opportunity to truly be at one with nature. Many people fall in love with this uninhabited island and its rustic barefoot luxury. Chill in a hammock with a book or take a swim around the outcroppings of rocks, this is one of Malawi’s most popular islands.

Day Nine to Eleven - Cape Maclear

After lunch, your boat will depart Mumbo island for the trip back to mainland where you will be met by your driver and driven 30 minutes to Chembe Eagles Nest at the far end of Cape Maclear.

You’ll be staying in the air-conditioned ensuite rooms with private verandahs on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis for two nights.

A lakeshore lodge like no other, Chembe Eagles Nest sits next to the steep slopes which mark the land section of Lake Malawi National Park. The lodge has delicious food, a fully stocked bar, pool and the option of a sunset catamaran trip.

Day Eleven to Thirteen - Blue Zebra Island

An early rise this morning as your group will be heading off straight after breakfast for the 3 hour journey to Senga Bay. This is where you’ll transfer by boat to the beautiful Blue Zebra Island Lodge in time for lunch. You’ll spend two nights in this luxury resort staying in an executive chalet on a full board basis.

With luxury ensuite safari tents, incredible food, fully stocked bar and an infinity pool, Blue Zebra offers comfort and style as well as a fantastic selection of activities like walking one of their trails to enjoy the undisturbed nature or taking an afternoon kayak. Be it a group of friends or a family break, Blue Zebra caters for your every need. An absolute must visit location!

Day Thirteen to Fourteen - Senga Bay

After a last leisurely breakfast on Blue Zebra Island you'll be transferred by speedboat back to the Senga Bay mainland where just down the road lies Casa Costantini - several beautifully designed cottages.   The cottages have two swimming pools and private decks overlooking the beach as well as comfortable seating areas dotted around the luscious gardens.  The food and service is second to none and you'll have a relaxing last night of your holiday surrounded by impeccable style.

Day Fourteen - Lilongwe Airport - Departure Day

This morning after breakfast your minibus will be waiting to take you directly to Kamuzu International Airport, approx 90 minutes away, ready for your departing flight.
