Tour Plan

Day One to Three - Game Haven

On arrival at Chileka International Airport, your driver will meet you and transfer you in a private taxi to Chimwenya Game Reserve - roughly an hour away from the airport.

Accommodation will be at Game Haven in a Luxury Cottage on a full board basis for two nights.

The lodge is in a private game reserve where your biggest worry is having zebras on the golf course blocking your shot off as they casually graze on the fairway. Beautiful spacious rooms, great food, numerous activities and a swimming pool are all included which make this a very popular destination.

Day Three to Five - Majete Wildlife Reserve

After breakfast, you will head off for the approx 2.5 hour journey to Majete Wildlife Reserve - with a chance to enjoy impressive views as you descend the escarpment. You’ll arrive in time for lunch before your first afternoon game drive.

Your accommodation for the next two nights will be at Thawale Camp, in a private chalet on a full board basis. The restaurant has a wonderful open dining area and bar with a viewing deck overlooking a floodlit watering hole where one can sit for hours enjoying the wildlife.

Majete Wildlife Reserve was the first park in Malawi to claim ‘Big 5’ status. Once desolate and heavily poached, Majete is a real life conservation fairytale. This dramatic resurgence has made Majete become a strong contender as one of Malawi’s premium wildlife reserves. You’ll enjoy a total of four game activities in Majete Wildlife Reserve.

Day Five to Seven - Zomba

After your final morning game activity and breakfast, you’ll start your 3 hour journey to Zomba.  Your accommodation will be at Kefi Hotel Cafe in an ensuite private room on a half-board basis for 2 nights.

Zomba city has beautiful colonial architecture and a good selection of cafes and restaurants.   Your lodge is a favourite with local residents for lunch on the terrace and we’d also highly recommend a delicious Italian dinner at restaurant Casa Rossa.  At the top of the plateau is Ku Chawe Inn where the views are magnificent. The plateau offers plenty of scenic hiking trails or for those wanting a more relaxed time perhaps a visit to the Botanical Gardens.

Day Seven to Nine - Liwonde National Park

After breakfast you’ll depart at 9.30am for your 2 hour drive to reach the Mvuu boat pick-up point. It’s just a 5 minute boat ride across the Shire river to reach your safari lodge and you’ll arrive in time for lunch and your first afternoon game activity in Liwonde National Park.

Your accommodation for the next two nights will be in a private ensuite tented chalet at Mvuu Wilderness Lodge on a full board basis with four game activities included during your stay. This exclusive safari getaway based right on the shores of the Shire river combines the rugged African bush with luxurious comfort and unforgettable game activities. With beautifully designed chalets and a cooling swimming pool, your time in between game activities will be almost as memorable.

Arguably the best national park in Malawi, Liwonde has a high concentration of elephants, hippos, crocodiles, antelope plus a rapidly growing population of cheetah, lion & other mammals. The most recently introduced black rhino and wild dogs make this park, Malawi’s star attraction with its ‘Big 5’ status

Day Nine - Lilongwe

After your final game activity this morning and a hearty breakfast, you’ll take the boat across the Shire river to join your driver for the approx 4.5 hour journey to Lilongwe.

You’ll spend one night relaxing at Kumbali Country Lodge on a dinner, bed and breakfast rate before embarking on the next stage of your itinerary in Zambia.

Day Ten to Fourteen - South Luangwa National Park, Zambia

After breakfast, your driver will take you to Lilongwe Airport for your short 1 hr flight to Mfuwe Airfield, Zambia.

Accommodation for the next 4 nights will be at Shawa Luangwa Camp, a small, intimate, eco-friendly bush camp overlooking the Luangwa River in the Nsefu Sector. This is one of the park’s most untouched areas offering excellent year-round game viewing with both morning and evening game drives, and walking safaris available. South Luangwa National Park boasts an abundance of game with Leopard, Lion, Wild dog, Elephant, Giraffe, Hippo, Antelope, Zebra, to name but a few, along with a bird population of over 400 species.

On your final day after your game drive and breakfast, you'll fly back to Lilongwe International Airport.
