Tour Plan
Day One to Three - Game Haven
On arrival at Chileka International Airport, your driver will meet you and transfer you in a private taxi to Chimwenya Game Reserve - roughly an hour away from the airport. Accommodation will be at Game Haven in a Luxury Cottage on a full board basis for two nights.
Game Haven is in a private game reserve where your biggest worry is having zebras on the golf course blocking your shot off as they casually graze on the fairway. Beautiful spacious rooms, great food, numerous activities and a swimming pool are all included which make this a very popular destination.
Day Three to Five - Thyolo
Today you will depart Game Haven, you'll take the 15 minute journey to The Thyolo House; a gorgeous old colonial property surrounded by tea fields and with amazing food and a lovely pool.
Accommodation will be in a private ensuite room for 2 nights on a bed and breakfast rate.
On day four, you will visit Huntingdon House, a working tea farm for a tea tasting and tour of the tea factory followed by a 2 course lunch before returning to The Thyolo House in the afternoon.
Five to Seven - Zomba
Today after breakfast you'll depart for Zomba - approx 2 hours drive away.
Your accommodation will be at Kefi Hotel Cafe in an ensuite private room on a half-board basis for 2 nights.
Zomba city has beautiful colonial architecture and a good selection of cafes and restaurants. Your lodge is a favourite with local residents for lunch on the terrace and we’d also highly recommend a delicious Italian dinner at restaurant Casa Rossa. At the top of the plateau is Ku Chawe Inn where the views are magnificent. The plateau offers plenty of scenic hiking trails or for those wanting a more relaxed time perhaps a visit to the Botanical Gardens.
Day Seven to Ten - Liwonde National Park
After breakfast you’ll depart at 9.30am for your 2 hour drive to reach the Mvuu boat pick-up point at Liwonde National Park. It’s just a 5 minute boat ride across the Shire river to reach your safari lodge and you’ll arrive in time for lunch and your first afternoon game activity.
Your accommodation for the next three nights will be in a private ensuite chalet at Mvuu Wilderness Lodge on a full board basis with six game activities included during your stay. This exclusive safari getaway based right on the shores of the Shire river combines the rugged African bush with luxurious comfort and unforgettable game activities. With beautifully designed chalets and a cooling swimming pool your time in between game activities will be almost as memorable.
Arguably the best national park in Malawi, Liwonde has a high concentration of elephants, hippos, crocodiles, antelope plus a rapidly growing population of cheetah, lion & other mammals. The recently introduced black rhino and wild dogs make this park Malawi’s star attraction with its ‘Big 5’ status
Day Ten to Thirteen - Blue Zebra Island Lodge
You’ll have an early breakfast and depart by 8.30am this morning to reach the boat pick-up point in Senga Bay. From here you’ll be transferred over to the luxury Blue Zebra Island Lodge by speedboat - just 20 minutes from mainland.
You’ll be staying at Blue Zebra Island Lodge for three nights in an executive chalet on a full board basis.
With luxury ensuite safari tents, incredible food, fully stocked bar and an infinity pool, Blue Zebra offers comfort and style as well as a fantastic selection of activities like walking one of their trails to enjoy the undisturbed nature or taking an afternoon kayak. Be it a romantic getaway for two or a family break, Blue Zebra caters for your every need. For further information, download our brochure here. An absolute must visit location!
On your last morning you'll depart by private speedboat and transfer directly to Lilongwe International Airport.
