Game Haven is in a private game reserve where your biggest worry is having zebras on the golf course blocking your shot off as they casually graze on the fairway. Beautiful spacious rooms, great food, numerous activities and a swimming pool are all included which make this a very popular destination.
Day Three to Five - Zomba
After lunch you’ll depart Game Haven for Zomba - approx 2 hours drive away - where you’ll stay for the next two nights.
Your accommodation will be at Ku Chawe Inn, a property at the top of Zomba plateau with breath-taking views. All rooms are ensuite with air-conditioning and you’ll be on a bed and breakfast rate for 2 nights.
Zomba city has beautiful colonial architecture and a good selection of cafes and restaurants. The new Kefi Hotel Cafe is a favourite with local residents for lunch on the terrace and we’d also highly recommend a trip to the delicious Italian restaurant Casa Rossa. Ku Chawe Inn is situated at the top of the plateau where you’ll find plenty of scenic hiking trails or a visit to the pretty Botanical Gardens in the city for those wanting a more relaxed time.
Day Five to Eight - Liwonde National Park
After breakfast you’ll depart at 9.30am for your 2 hour drive to reach the Mvuu boat pick-up point at Liwonde National Park. It’s just a 5 minute boat ride across the Shire river to reach your safari lodge and you’ll arrive in time for lunch and your first afternoon game activity.
Your accommodation for the next three nights will be in a private ensuite chalet at Mvuu Wilderness Lodge on a full board basis with six game activities included during your stay. This exclusive safari getaway based right on the shores of the Shire river combines the rugged African bush with luxurious comfort and unforgettable game activities. With beautifully designed chalets and a cooling swimming pool your time in between game activities will be almost as memorable.
Arguably the best national park in Malawi, Liwonde has a high concentration of elephants, hippos, crocodiles, antelope plus a rapidly growing population of cheetah, lion & other mammals. The recently introduced black rhino and wild dogs make this park Malawi’s star attraction with its ‘Big 5’ status
Day Eight to Ten - The Makokola Retreat
After your final morning game activity and breakfast, you’ll take a short 5 minute boat trip back across the Shire river where your driver will be waiting to take you for the 1.5 hour journey to The Makokola Retreat on the southern lakeshore.
You’ll be staying for two nights in a Lake Suite on an all-inclusive basis. All your meals, non-premium drinks, gelato, laundry and non-motorised activities will be included.
Enjoy stunning lakeshore views in style. The Makokola Retreat (fondly nicknamed Club Mak) offers several restaurants, cafes, and swimming pools in a beautiful complex with a range of accommodation options. The Lake Suite section was added as a luxury adults-only addition with its own infinity pool and private El Chiringuito Bar area only accessible to Lake Suite guests.
Day Ten to Twelve - Blue Zebra Island Lodge
You’ll have an early breakfast and depart by 8.30am this morning to reach the boat pick-up point in Senga Bay. From here you’ll be transferred over to the luxury Blue Zebra Island Lodge by speedboat - just 20 minutes from mainland.
